The 2010 version of the Trusthouse Racetech Rally Wairarapa is ready to rock the rural roads of the region. Using the same roads as previous years, with only a couple of minor changes, the event will take in 250km of competitive stages taking place over 10th - 12th September.

Celebrate spring and travel with Steam Incorporated Paekakariki to Carterton by heritage excursion train to attend the annual Daffodil Carnival. Adult return fare $70, Child $40. Fare includes bus transfers to daffodil fields. You can also board the train at Petone, Waterloo, or Upper Hutt. Unfortunately tickets are now sold out. This event is steeped in tradition. Boasting dozens of stalls featuring local crafts, art and children’s entertainment, the Carnival also features the time honoured tradition of picking daffodils at Middle Run, a historic property at Gladstone. The day begins at 9am. Take a shuttle bus to Middlerun to pick your daffodils for a small fee. Shuttle bus leaves from Nelson Crescent Carpark on the half hour from 10.30am, $5 adult, $2 child.
The Martinborough Country Market is held every Sunday at Jaq's Bar, New York Street from 10am until 2pm. There is a mix of fresh produce, local olive oil, pickles, jams and chutneys, local crafts, wooden toys etc. There is a cafe and bar attached where people can get coffee and snacks. In Summer you can sit outside looking over the vines and in Winter, you can be cosy inside by the fire. As well as visiting the historic Daffodil Day event, enjoy a short ride on the historic steam train between Carterton and Masterton.
This train will depart Carterton at 10.55am and return by approximately 1pm and includes a 20 minute turnaround in Masterton. There is a buffet car on the train.
