About Castlepoint

Profile

Profile
Soft sand, a warm lagoon, a reef with whirling seabirds, hidden caves, fossils… re-live childhood adventure at Castlepoint.  Experience the pink glow of dawn across the lighthouse, or wait for the beam to blink into action over a sundowner at the Castlepoint Store. Have a ‘wind in your hair’ walk to Castle Rock for stunning views along the coast.  Watch the fishing boats return and the surfers head out. Charter a fishing boat yourself or drop a line from the reef – if all else fails a fish supper from the Whakataki Hotel will have to do!  Find accommodation to suit all budgets at the Castlepoint Holiday Park and Motel, find seclusion at Mataikona.

Stop through the tiny historic settlement of Tinui en route to or from Castlepoint.  Browse the Tinui Craft Store and Museum for a look at life for the early wool traders – grab a bite at the dairy or head to the pub for a pint and a chat.
