Martinborough

Martinborough sits on the site of one of New Zealand's first sheep station and was established by Irish immigrant John Martin in 1881. The streets, laid out in the shape of the Union Jack, are named after places he visited on his world travels.

Packed with charm, Martinborough features over thirty largely family-owned wineries, most within walking distance of the village. It is a popular weekend destination where you can enjoy the premium wines, boutique stores, olive groves and quality restaurants.

  • The vineyards are within easy walking or cycling distance of the town. You can even book a tour by horse and carriage or a London Black Cab. Ask at the i-SITE for a wine trail map and cellar door opening details.
  • Book lunch or dinner at the award-winning
