Treat yourself to a fun, informal cooking class with one of Wairarapa's top chefs. Travis Clive-Griffin of award-winning Greytown restaurant Saluté runs this cooking school from his country home near Gladstone. The emphasis is on fresh, local produce, including fruit and vegetables from Travis's own garden plot whenever possible.
At each class, you'll taste your way through the techniques and traditions of each dish, and be given wine-matching tips. Prepare to roll up your sleeves, though - Travis's kitchen is a hands-on sort of place!
Originally from Melbourne, Travis trained with some of the best chefs in Australia and Britain, including Stephanie Alexander and Raymond Blanc, before deciding to make NZ his home.
Classes begin with morning tea at 9.30, and end at about 3pm after a relaxed lunch.
To book, or for more information, give Travis or Eve a call or see the cooking school web site.
