Pukaha Mount Bruce is NZ's most established and successful wildlife and captive breeding centre.

Set in 942 hectares of ancient podocarp forest only 18 minutes from Masterton, Pukaha is home to many endangered species including the takahe, kokako, kaka and our national icon, the kiwi. It is also home to the Manukura, the little white kiwi. You will also see monster eels and tuatara and enjoy a new free flight aviary where you can walk through the birds environment.

Daily programme:
10.30am - Takahe Talk and feed
11.30am - Tuatara talk and feed
12 noon - Kiwi chick feed or gecko talk
1.30pm - Eel feed and talk
2.15pm - Kokako talk
3.00pm - Kaka feed and 'circus'
4.00pm - Final flight in the free flight aviary

Manukura, the little white kiwi, can be seen in the kiwi house every day. Walk through the free flight aviary (opened in May 2016) to see 7 species of birds all in together.

Visit the new theatre for a number of short films. See the new kiwi house and enjoy fantastic, behind-the-scenes viewing into the kiwi nursery.
Enjoy a coffee or light meal at Wild Cafe at Pukaha - open daily from 9.30-4pm. The cafe overlooks the takahe enclosure and our kaka like to visit too!
