Masterton is Wairarapa’s largest town, with plenty of fun things to do for families (many of them free) and lots of family-friendly accommodation.

An adventure at the beautiful Queen Elizabeth Park is a must-do with a lake, pedal boats, swing bridge, skate park and miniature train and one of New Zealand’s best children’s playgrounds. Just across the road, The Trust House Recreation Centre promises fun for the whole family with a range of indoor and outdoor pools and activities.

Aratoi Wairarapa Museum of Art and History, features varied and changing exhibitions. The Wool Shed: National Museum of Sheep and Shearing is nearby, presenting the culture and sport of shearing. And you're spoilt for choice when it comes to cafes and restaurants.

Castlepoint and Riversdale are top beach holiday spots, and both are only an hour's drive from town.
