Family-run Ata Rangi is one of the region’s founding vineyards. Clive Paton planted his first vines in a stony sheep paddock in 1980, when winemaking was unheard of in Martinborough.
Ata Rangi is now well known here and overseas for its superb pinot noir, well established in 25 international markets. Groups of up to six people are welcome at the cellar door for a taste and a chat. Because it's an intimate space, larger groups are asked to book ahead to ensure the best possible experience. Sample a pinot, chardonnay, riesling, or rosé... or try the Célèbre, an enduringly popular cab/merlot/syrah blend - first produced in a lean-to shed in 1986!
